As for me, being on the way...

Mo. 11/26/12: Genesis 24:2 – 4                  What was the mission?
So Abraham said to the oldest servant of his house, who ruled over all that he had, “Please, put your hand under my thigh, and I will make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that … you shall go to my country and to my family, and take a wife for my son Isaac.”
What was the mission? The oldest servant, Abraham’s steward, was to go find a wife for Isaac from Abraham’s people.
Tu. 11/27/12: Genesis 24:17 – 19                  What was the sign?
And the servant ran to meet her and said, “Please let me drink a little water from your pitcher.”
So she said, “Drink, my lord.” Then she quickly let her pitcher down to her hand, and gave him a drink. And when she had finished giving him a drink, she said, “I will draw water for your camels also, until they have finished drinking.”
What was the sign? The sign was that the girl offer drink to the ten camels also.
We. 11/28/12: Genesis 24:21 – 22                  What were the tokens given?
And (the servant), wondering at her, remained silent so as to know whether the Lord had made his journey prosperous or not. So it was, when the camels had finished drinking, that (the servant) took a golden nose ring weighing half a shekel, and two bracelets for her wrists weighing ten shekels of gold
What were the tokens given? A gold nose ring and two gold bracelets. Surprisingly, these were accepted.
Th. 11/29/12: Genesis 24:26 – 27                  As for me, being on the way?
Then the man bowed down his head and worshiped the Lord. And he said, “Blessed be the Lord God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken His mercy and His truth toward my master. As for me, being on the way, the Lord led me to the house of my master’s brethren.”
As for me, being on the way? The statement is meek, simply fulfilling the master’s will.
Fr. 11/30/12: Revelation 21:9                  Who is the bride?
Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, “Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.”
Who is the bride? The historic account could be prophetically pointing to the Church

Ever heard of Fickle?

Mo. 11/19/12: Genesis 21:22 – 24                  Ever heard of Fickle in the Bible?
And it came to pass at that time that Abimelech and Phichol, the commander of his army, spoke to Abraham, saying, “God is with you in all that you do. Now therefore, swear to me by God that you will not deal falsely with me, with my offspring, or with my posterity; but that according to the kindness that I have done to you, you will do to me and to the land in which you have dwelt.”
And Abraham said, “I will swear.”
Ever heard of Fickle in the Bible? Phichol, pronounced Fickle, was the commander of the army of Abimelich, King of the Philistines. Both recognized that God was with Abraham.
Tu. 11/20/12: Genesis 21:25 – 26                  What was the problem?
Then Abraham rebuked Abimelech because of a well of water which Abimelech’s servants had seized. And Abimelech said, “I do not know who has done this thing; you did not tell me, nor had I heard of it until today.”
What was the problem? Fresh water, a precious commodity was disputed.
We. 11/21/12: Genesis 21:27 – 31                  How was it resolved?
So Abraham took sheep and oxen and gave them to Abimelech, and the two of them made a covenant. And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves.
How was it resolved? In spite of knowing he was in the right, Abraham paid for the well that he had dug in the land of the Philistines.
Th. 11/22/12: Genesis 21:27 – 31                  What did the ‘yoõ’ lambs mean?
Then Abimelech asked Abraham, “What is the meaning of these seven ewe lambs which you have set by themselves?”
And he said, “You will take these seven ewe lambs from my hand, that they may be my witness that I have dug this well.” Therefore he called that place Beersheba, because the two of them swore an oath there.
What did the seven  ‘yoõ’ lambs mean? A personal witness of payment.
Fr. 11/23/12: Genesis 21:32 – 34                  How is land of Canaan portrayed?
Thus they made a covenant at Beersheba. So Abimelech rose with Phichol, the commander of his army, and they returned to the land of the Philistines. Then Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there called on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God. And Abraham stayed in the land of the Philistines many days.
How is land of Canaan Biblically portrayed? From Beersheba to Dan.

Sarah's death in faith

Mo. 11/12/12: Genesis 23:1 – 2                  How old was Isaac when Sarah died?
Sarah lived one hundred and twenty-seven years; these were the years of the life of Sarah. So Sarah died in Kirjath Arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan, and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her.
How old was Isaac when Sarah died? He was 10 + 27 = 37 years old.
Tu. 11/13/12: Gen. 23:19 – 20                  What is unusual about Sarah’s burial?
And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah, before Mamre (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan. So the field and the cave that is in it were deeded to Abraham by the sons of Heth as property for a burial place.
What is unusual about Sarah’s burial? Twenty verses describe it.
We. 11/14/12: Hebrews 11:8 – 10                  What was a test of Abraham’s faith?
By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
What was a test of Abraham’s faith? His promised land was a city built by God.
Th. 11/15/12: Hebrews 11:11, 13                  Who is also listed as a hero of faith?
By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
Who is also listed as a hero of faith? Sarah is, and died in faith!
Fr. 11/16/12: Philippians 3:18 – 20                  Where is our citizenship?
For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things. For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ
Where is our citizenship? In heaven.

Three Men meet Abranham

Mo. 11/5/12: Genesis 18:1 – 2                    What did the three Men accept?
Then the Lord appeared to him by the terebinth trees of Mamre, as he was sitting in the tent door in the heat of the day. So he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing by him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, and bowed himself to the ground
What did the three Men accept? All three accepted Abraham’s worship.
Tu. 11/6/12: Genesis 18:4 – 5                      How was the reply unusual?
Please let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree. And I will bring a morsel of bread, that you may refresh your hearts. After that you may pass by, inasmuch as you have come to your servant.” They said, “Do as you have said.”
How was the reply unusual? All three said the same words.
We. 11/7/12: Genesis 18:8 – 10                  How were the two questions different?
So he took butter and milk and the calf which he had prepared, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree as they ate. Then they said to him, “Where is Sarah your wife?” So he said, “Here, in the tent.”
And He said, “I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son.”
How were the questions different? The 1st was ‘they said,’ the 2nd, ‘He said.’
Th. 11/8/12: Genesis 18:20 – 22                  What words preceded two Men leaving?
And the Lord said, “Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grave, I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry against it that has come to Me; and if not, I will know.”
Then the men turned away from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the Lord.
What words preceded two Men leaving? The words, “I will go now.”
Fr. 11/9/12: Genesis 18:32 – 33                  What conclusion can we draw?
Then he said, “Let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak but once more: Suppose ten should be found there?” And He said, “I will not destroy it for the sake of ten.”
So the Lord went His way as soon as He had finished speaking with Abraham; and Abraham returned to his place.
What conclusion can we draw? In a way that is beyond explanation, this is the Trinity, the Godhead.
