Promised Land

Mo. 1/14/13: Exodus 3:6                  Who made the promise?

Moreover He said, “I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.

Who made the promise? The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob made the promise.

Tu. 1/15/13: Exodus 3:8                  What was the promise?

So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.

What was the promise? Land was promised as an inheritance

We. 1/16/13: Hebrews 11:13, 16                  What happened to the promise?

These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.

What happened to the promise? The promise was for eternity. We, too, might die in faith.

Th. 1/17/13: Revelation 21:2 – 3                  Will the promise be fulfilled?

Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.

Will the promise be fulfilled? Heavenly Jerusalem fulfills the promise

Fr. 1/18/13: Revelation 22:5 – 6                  Who was the promise told to?

There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever. Then he said to me, “These words are faithful and true.” And the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to show His servants the things which must shortly take place.

Who was the promise told to? The promise was to Abraham, etc.
