Mo. 9/16/13: Deuteronomy
11:1 Why would we keep God’s
charges?
“Therefore you shall love the Lord your God, and keep His charge, His statutes, His judgments, and His commandments always.
Why would we keep God’s charges? Only if we first love Him.
Tu. 9/17/13: Genesis 26:5 What did Abraham obey?
… Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge,
My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.”
What did Abraham obey? Abraham obeyed God’s voice, the Word of
God.
We. 9/18/13: Romans 8:33 –
34 Can the devil charge us?
Who shall bring a charge
against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who
condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is
even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
Can the devil charge us? The devil can neither charge nor
condemn us.
Th. 9/19/13: 1 Timothy 1:3
– 4 What often gets taught?
As I urged you when I went into Macedonia—remain in Ephesus
that you may charge some that they teach no other doctrine, nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause
disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith.
What gets taught? Doctrines that are NOT in God’s Word, the
Bible. A simple way to find out: count references to the Bible and to man’s
writings in a sermon.
Fr. 9/20/13: 2 Timothy 4:1
– 2 What is our behavior to
be?
I charge
you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will
judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of
season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
What is our behavior to be? We are to be
longsuffering!
