Mo. 9/22/14: Isaiah 52:7 What is the good
news?
How
beautiful upon the mountains
Are
the feet of him who brings good news,
Who
proclaims salvation,
Who
says to Zion,
“Your
God reigns!”
What is the good news? The good news is God’s
salvation.
Tu. 9/23/13: Isaiah 52:13 – 15a What is the bad
news?
Behold,
My Servant shall deal prudently;
He
shall be exalted and extolled and be very high.
Just
as many were astonished at you,
So
His visage was marred more than any man,
And
His form more than the sons of men;
So
shall He sprinkle many nations.
What is the bad news? He was wounded to death.
We. 9/24/14: Isaiah 53:1 – 2 What sounds
improbable?
Who
has believed our report?
And
to whom has the arm of the Lord
been revealed?
For
He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant,
And
as a root out of dry ground.
There
is no beauty that we should desire Him.
What sounds improbable? His virgin birth: a
plant grows in dry ground.
Th. 9/25/14: Isaiah 53:3 – 4 What did He carry?
He
is despised and rejected by men,
A
Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
Surely
He has borne our griefs
And
carried our sorrows;
Yet
we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten
by God, and afflicted.
What did He carry? He carried my sins.
Fr. 9/26/14: Isaiah 53:5 –6 Why was He
wounded?
But
He was wounded for our transgressions,
He
was bruised for our iniquities;
The
chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And
by His stripes we are healed.
All
we like sheep have gone astray;
We
have turned, every one, to his own way;
And
the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
Why was He wounded? His wounds bought our
healing.
