The Voice of the LORD

Mo. 9/30/13: Exodus 15:26                  Whose voice was Israel to heed?
… and (God) said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.”
Whose voice was Israel to heed? Israel was to heed the voice of the Lord to avoid diseases that Egypt suffered.
Tu. 10/1/13: Deuteronomy 28:45                  What was the penalty for disobedience?
“Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you.
What was the penalty for disobedience? Destruction from the promised land was the penalty.
We. 10/2/13: Deuteronomy 30:9 – 10                  What would repentance bring?
The Lord your God will make you abound in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your land for good. For the Lord will again rejoice over you for good as He rejoiced over your fathers, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this Book of the Law, and if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
What would repentance bring? Repentance would bring success in work circumstances that are beyond your control.
Th. 10/3/13: John 5:24 – 25                  What does hearing and believing bring?
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.
What does hearing and believing bring? Eternal life: we will never be judged and found wanting.
Fr. 10/4/13: Hebrews 1:1 – 2                  Who does God now speak through?
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds
Who does God now speak through? God speaks through His Son and none else in these last days.

The Passover Feast

Mo. 9/23/13: Deuteronomy 14:22 – 23                  What tithe was to be given?
“You shall truly tithe all the increase of your grain that the field produces year by year. And you shall eat before the Lord your God, in the place where He chooses to make His name abide, the tithe of your grain and your new wine and your oil, of the firstborn of your herds and your flocks, that you may learn to fear the Lord your God always.
What tithe was to be given? The grain tithe was all the yearly increase.
Tu. 9/24/13: Deut. 14:24 – 26                  Where was the offering to be eaten?
But if the journey is too long for you, so that you are not able to carry the tithe, or if the place where the Lord your God chooses to put His name is too far from you, when the Lord your God has blessed you, then you shall exchange it for money, take the money in your hand, and go to the place which the Lord your God chooses. And you shall spend that money for whatever your heart desires: for oxen or sheep, for wine or similar drink, for whatever your heart desires; you shall eat there before the Lord your God, and you shall rejoice, you and your household.
Where was the offering to be eaten? The offerings were to be eaten in Jerusalem, Near the Temple.
We. 9/25/13: Deut. 16:16 – 17                  How often were males to appear?
“Three times a year all your males shall appear before the Lord your God in the place which He chooses: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Tabernacles; and they shall not appear before the Lord empty-handed. Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God which He has given you.
How often were males to appear? They were to appear three times.
Th. 9/26/13: Deuteronomy 16:5 – 6                  When was the Passover sacrificed?
“You may not sacrifice the Passover within any of your gates which the Lord your God gives you; but at the place where the Lord your God chooses to make His name abide, there you shall sacrifice the Passover at twilight, at the going down of the sun, at the time you came out of Egypt.
When was the Passover sacrificed? Passover was sacrificed at twilight.
Fr. 9/27/13: 1 Corinthians 5:7 – 8                  Do we still observe Passover?
Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Do we still observe Passover? No, Christ, our Passover has been sacrificed.

A Charge To Keep

Mo. 9/16/13: Deuteronomy 11:1            Why would we keep God’s charges?
“Therefore you shall love the Lord your God, and keep His charge, His statutes, His judgments, and His commandments always.
Why would we keep God’s charges? Only if we first love Him.

Tu. 9/17/13: Genesis 26:5            What did Abraham obey?
… Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.”
What did Abraham obey? Abraham obeyed God’s voice, the Word of God.

We. 9/18/13: Romans 8:33 – 34            Can the devil charge us?
Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
Can the devil charge us? The devil can neither charge nor condemn us.

Th. 9/19/13: 1 Timothy 1:3 – 4            What often gets taught?
As I urged you when I went into Macedonia—remain in Ephesus that you may charge some that they teach no other doctrine, nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith.
What gets taught? Doctrines that are NOT in God’s Word, the Bible. A simple way to find out: count references to the Bible and to man’s writings in a sermon.

Fr. 9/20/13: 2 Timothy 4:1 – 2            What is our behavior to be?
I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
What is our behavior to be? We are to be longsuffering!

Justify the Righteous

Mo. 9/9/13: Deuteronomy 25:1                  What is ‘justify the righteous’?
“If there is a dispute between men, and they come to court, that the judges may judge them, and they justify the righteous and condemn the wicked
What is ‘justify the righteous’? A judge declares one righteous: He was already innocent but the judge declares that he is innocent.
Tu. 9/10/13: Exodus 23:7 – 8                  What will God not do?
Keep yourself far from a false matter; do not kill the innocent and righteous. For I will not justify the wicked. And you shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the discerning and perverts the words of the righteous.
What will God not do? God will not justify the wicked. This puts all humanity into condemnation.
We. 9/11/13: Proverbs 17:15                  What is an abomination to God?
He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just,
Both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord.
What is an abomination to God? Declaring the guilty innocent or vice versa is an abomination to God.
Th. 9/12/13: Romans 3:23 – 24, 26                  How then can God be just?
… for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
… to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that (God) might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
How then can God be just? If God justifies one who only has faith, but is wicked, isn’t God unjust?
Fr. 9/13/13: Romans 8:3 – 4                  Who was condemned?
For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Who was condemned? The perfect one who came in the flesh was condemned for my sin. He paid my penalty and believing that He did so, I am justified. I am declared righteous!

Song of Prophecy

Mo. 9/2/13: Deuteronomy 31:19    What did God give Moses?
Now therefore, write down this song for yourselves, and teach it to the children of
Israel; put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for Me against the
children of Israel.
What did God give Moses? God gave Moses a song that would remind Israel about the prophetic warnings about idol worship.
Tu. 9/3/13: Deuteronomy 31:20    When would this happen?
When I have brought them to the land flowing with milk and honey, of which I
swore to their fathers, and they have eaten and filled themselves and grown fat,
then they will turn to other gods and serve them; and they will provoke Me and
break My covenant.
When would this happen? This would happen after prosperity: fat!
We. 9/4/13: Deuteronomy 32:15    Who would Israel forsake?
But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked;
You grew fat, you grew thick,
You are obese!
Then he forsook God who made him,
And scornfully esteemed the Rock of his salvation.
Who would Israel forsake? Israel would forsake the Rock of their salvation.
Th. 9/5/13: Deuteronomy 32:35    What is God's sole possession?
Vengeance is Mine, and recompense;
Their foot shall slip in due time;
For the day of their calamity is at hand,
And the things to come hasten upon them.’
What is God's sole possession? Vengeance belongs to God, not man.Don't avenge yourself.
Fr. 9/6/13: Deuteronomy 32:43    Why would Gentiles rejoice?
Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people;
For He will avenge the blood of His servants,
And render vengeance to His adversaries;
He will provide atonement for His land and His people.
Why would Gentiles rejoice? God's plans are for all mankind.
