Mo. 12/31/12: Colossians 3:16                     Have you any room for Christ?

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Have you any room for Christ? Many a Christian neglects Bible study and suffers an impoverished heart.

Tu. 1/1/13: 1 Timothy 6:17a                        Are riches dependable?

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches

Are riches dependable? No. Riches are often spent on things that decay or devalue rapidly.

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they … trust in … the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy

Can the rich buy enjoyment? No. Only God richly gives things to enjoy.

Th. 1/3/13: Titus 3:5-6                                What is the washing of regeneration?

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour

What is the washing of regeneration? Renewal by the Holy Spirit poured richly on us who believe.

Fr. 1/4/13: 2 Peter 1:10 -11                         What is a rich entrance?

Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: for so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

What is a rich entrance? Instead of a fallen life, we could enter into a rich reward in heaven.

What did Abimelech see in Abraham? He saw God prospering Abraham.

Mo. 12/25/12: Gen. 26:26, 28 – 29 What did Abimelech see in Isaac?

Then Abimelech came to (Isaac) from Gerar with Ahuzzath, one of his friends, and Phichol the commander of his army. But they said, “We have certainly seen that the Lord is with you … You are now the blessed of the Lord.’”

What did Abimelech see in Isaac? He saw that God blessed Isaac.

The keeper of the prison did not look into anything that was under Joseph’s authority, because the Lord was with him; and whatever he did, the Lord made it prosper.

What did the Warden give Joseph? He gave Joseph ‘Carte Blanche,’ seeing that whatever he did, God prospered it.

Mo. 12/27/12: Proverbs 30:8b – 9 What is ideal for man?

Give me neither poverty nor riches—

Feed me with the food allotted to me;

Lest I be full and deny You,

And say, “Who is the Lord?”

Or lest I be poor and steal,

And profane the name of my God.

What is ideal for man? We seek neither riches nor poverty, but God.

On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.

What did Paul ask? Our giving to God should be in accordance to how He has prospered us, not by any rule such as 10%.

The Fear of Isaac

Mo. 12/17/12: Genesis 22:11 – 12                  What did Isaac’s being bound mean?

But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!”

So he said, “Here I am.”

And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”

What did Isaac’s being bound mean? It meant that Isaac also feared God.

Tu. 12/18/12: Genesis 31:41 – 42                  Who was with Jacob?

Thus I have been in your house twenty years; I served you fourteen years for your two daughters, and six years for your flock, and you have changed my wages ten times. Unless the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely now you would have sent me away empty-handed. God has seen my affliction and the labor of my hands, and rebuked you last night.”

Who was with Jacob? Facing Laban, Jacob calls God ‘the Fear of Isaac.’

Who did Jacob swear by? Jacob swore by the Fear of his father, Isaac.

What was Jacob’s dream? A ladder with angels reached heaven.

What did Jacob do? Jacob made a vow of tithing.

In the Way of Truth

Food was set before him to eat, but he said, “I will not eat until I have told about my errand.” And (Laban, Rebekah’s brother) said, “Speak on.”

And I bowed my head and worshiped the Lord, and blessed the Lord God of my master Abraham, who had led me in the way of truth to take the daughter of my master’s brother for his son.

What was important to the servant? The servant’s mission given by the master was more important than food. He walked in the way of truth.

Tu. 12/4/12: Genesis 24:57 – 58, 61                  What choice did Rebekah make?

So they said, “We will call the young woman and ask her personally.” Then they called Rebekah and said to her, “Will you go with this man?”

And she said, “I will go.” Then Rebekah and her maids arose, and they rode on the camels and followed the man. So the servant took Rebekah and departed.

What choice did Rebekah make? Rebekah said ‘yes.’ Her maids did not fetch water for the camels; she did.

… that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise

How can we emulate Rebekah? We have to hear and believe.
