Spirit Of Truth & Spirit Of Error

Monday, November 1, 2010: 1 John 4:1 (NKJV)

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Why are we to test spirits? This world has many false prophets who speak as lead by the spirit of error. We will (not might) encounter them.

Tuesday, November 2, 2010: 1 John 4:2 – 3 (NKJV)

By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.

What is the true test for the spirit of truth? ‘Jesus Christ, Son of God, was made flesh’ is the test statement. You either hear it or ask if that is what the speaker believes. Listen for the answer: yes is sufficient; long-winded explanation is false.

Wednesday, November 3, 2010: 1 John 4:4 – 5 (NKJV)

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them.

What is the secret of overcoming? Jesus Christ has done it all: His victory is ours.

Thursday, November 4, 2010: 1 John 4:6 (NKJV)

We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

Will a false prophet ever listen to you? No, such a one is only interested in changing your belief into the wrong path. He will never listen or agree.

Friday, November 5, 2010: 1 John 5:4 – 5 (NKJV)

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

What finally overcomes the world? Our faith that leads to salvation is the same that allows us to lead victorious lives.
