Impenitent of Kings and People

Mo. 8/11/14: Hosea 4:12                  Who played the harlot?
My people ask counsel from their wooden idols,
      And their staff informs them.
For the spirit of harlotry has caused them to stray,
And they have played the harlot against their God.
Who played the harlot? The very people chosen by God played the harlot.
Tu. 8/12/14: 2 Chronicles 26:19 – 20                  Who became a leper?
Then Uzziah became furious; and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense. And while he was angry with the priests, leprosy broke out on his forehead, before the priests in the house of the Lord, beside the incense altar.
And Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked at him, and there, on his forehead, he was leprous; so they thrust him out of that place. Indeed he also hurried to get out, because the Lord had struck him.
We. 8/13/14: Amos 4:6 – 7                  Who was impenitent?
“Also I gave you cleanness of teeth in all your cities.
      And lack of bread in all your places;
Yet you have not returned to Me,”      Says the Lord.
“I also withheld rain from you,
When there were still three months to the harvest.
I made it rain on one city,      I withheld rain from another city.
      One part was rained upon,
And where it did not rain the part withered.
Who was impenitent? Those punished by God were still impenitent.
Th. 8/14/14: Matthew 14:6 – 9                  Who was sorry but didn’t act?
But when Herod’s birthday was celebrated, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod. Therefore he promised with an oath to give her whatever she might ask. So she … said, “Give me John the Baptist’s head here on a platter.”
And the king was sorry; nevertheless, because of the oaths and because of those who sat with him, he commanded it to be given to her.
Who was sorry but didn’t act? King Herod was sorry but didn’t act.
Fr. 8/15/14: 2 Corinthians 7:8 – 10                  Who did not regret a letter?
For even if I made you sorry with my letter, I do not regret it; though I did regret it. For I perceive that the same epistle made you sorry, though only for a while.
Now I rejoice … For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

Who did not regret a letter? Paul did not regret his letter.
